The Arts are Back!
Dear Waterside Residents,
Live music, theatre, show-stopping musicals and festivals – all of these and more have been depressingly thin on the ground over the past year. The arts have definitely had a tough time of it, however there is light at the end of the tunnel. Here are some ‘coming soon’ events for you to consider, they’re a perfect way to reintroduce ourselves to the amazing culture that Leeds offers!
- Priscilla Queen of the Desert
- Leeds Grand Theatre from Tuesday 6th July to Saturday 10th July 2021
What better musical to start with than the gloriously camp Priscilla Queen of the Desert! Based on the Oscar winning movie, this show will have you singing classic hits for days after. Glitter is mandatory!
- Hyde Park Jazz Festival
- Hyde Park Book Club on Saturday 31st July 2021
A bit of jazz in the summer sunshine is a wonderful way to welcome ourselves back into society. 100% drop by and listen to some of these incredible artists fusing jazz, blues and funk.
- Piaf
- Leeds Playhouse from Friday 23rd July to Saturday 7th August 2021
‘Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien’ translates to “No, I Don’t Regret Anything”… something you will definitely be saying if you don’t go to see this show! That’s as far as our French goes, but Piaf follows the life of Edith Gassion, one of the biggest stars of her time, and features songs from her unforgettable musical career.

- Millennium Square on Friday 23rd July 2021
Who doesn’t love the 80’s?! Originally due to take place in 2020, the show has been rescheduled for 2021 and has a line up as big as the hair of the time! All artists will be joined by Opera North creating a unique sound giving old (to some!) music a new lease of life.
So round up your friends and go and show some love for the Arts!
